Nowadays, cost minimization is more imperative than ever for successful operations. Energy is a major cost driver and MELKAT places strong emphasis in energy management and control for cost minimization.
MELKAT has invested in modern equipment and in personnel training in order to be ready to apply the EU Directives of Energy Inspection of Buildings which will become effective by 2009.
At the same time MELKAT has moved to the next level which is to become an Energy Service Company (ESCO) being in the position to offers its clients value added services.
According to EU Legislation Framework an ESCO is a company:
- Eligible to finance the operation of an energy consuming system
- Guarantees lower energy costs as illustrated in a mutual contract
- Payment is directly linked with energy cost reduction
- Plays a vital role in the energy operations within the client’s premises.
Within this operating framework MELKAT invests where necessary in order to minimise energy consumption. The payback period of the investment must be within a commonly agreed time frame. In case of failure against targets, all costs are covered by MELKAT. |

The professional treatment of infrastructures is associated with modern technological equipment and analysis (thermo-graphic cameras, statistical analysis etc) in order to support energy-saving recommendations. |

In the following stage a contract is signed between MELKAT and its client where a certain energy quota target is set against other parameters (working conditions, number of employees, working hours etc). In the quota is not met, all costs are covered by MELKAT, otherwise the cost reduction is split between the Client and MELKAT.
